# Eve agent tracing and expanded New Relic
URL: /docs/changelog/2026-10-18
LLM index: /llms.txt
Description: Trace durable Eve agent turns with Blyp and upgrade to the release that ships expanded New Relic monitoring.

## @blyp/core v0.1.34

### Eve agent tracing

The new `@blyp/core/ai/eve` entrypoint adds `blypHook()` for one aggregated `ai_trace` per Eve agent turn. Model usage, tool calls, asynchronous tasks, outcomes, timing, and parent-child session links are collected into a turn-level record.

- **Durable turn state:** Blyp restores bounded, sanitized state across Eve workflow boundaries and process restarts. Waiting turns and interim assistant messages remain open until the turn ends.
- **Usage and tool tracking:** Usage is summed from reported model steps. Asynchronous tools settle when their tasks finish, and delegated sessions retain parent-child links.
- **Conservative capture:** Input, output, reasoning, tool payloads, and stream content are disabled by default. Enabled content is redacted, excluded, and bounded before durable storage, then sanitized again for logging.
- **Lifecycle outcomes:** Completed, failed, and cancelled turns emit a final trace. Session termination closes an outstanding turn with an incomplete-end marker; tracing attached mid-turn records an incomplete-start marker.

### Expanded New Relic integration

This release ships the pending New Relic expansion described in the [v0.1.33 changelog](/docs/changelog/2026-10-14):

- US, EU, and JP configuration, service attributes, explicit environment mapping, JSON Log API and OTLP/protobuf export, trace correlation, and bounded delivery.
- Optional OpenTelemetry traces and metrics, request instrumentation, browser and mobile bridges, and read-only NerdGraph APIs through separate entrypoints.
- Privacy, request-context isolation, delivery, and worker-cleanup hardening.

For the expanded configuration and entrypoint examples, see the [release's New Relic guide](https://github.com/Blyphq/blyp/blob/v0.1.34/docs/connectors/newrelic.md).

### Upgrade and setup

```bash
bun add @blyp/core@0.1.34
```

Eve tracing requires Node.js 24+, Eve `~0.80.1`, and Eve's AI SDK 7 peer:

```bash
bun add eve@~0.80.1 ai@^7.0.137
```

Keep `@blyp/core` in the agent's `build.externalDependencies`, then create the hook file:

```ts
// agent/hooks/blyp.ts
import { blypHook } from "@blyp/core/ai/eve";
export default blypHook();
```

Install the hook in each child agent whose turns you want to trace. Blyp's separate Vercel AI SDK adapter continues to target SDK 6; keep its integration separate from Eve's SDK 7 dependency.

Eve trace delivery remains best effort. Log emission and Eve checkpoints are not atomic, so crashes can duplicate traces. Usage reflects observed reported calls, including retried model steps; neither durable state nor logging provides exactly-once guarantees.

### Release validation

The upstream release reports 520 passing tests, passing TypeScript and production/Convex builds, and packed CommonJS/ESM checks for connectors and Eve. Eve checks include a deterministic real-runtime evaluation and fresh-process state recovery. Production dependency audits reported no vulnerabilities.
